Hot off the press!

Happy birthday to me! What could be a better birthday present than being on stage in my first ever Comedy Festival? Well, not much. The show opened with a bang on Wednesday, and now the first press has appeared.

There’s a brief mention in “Hail the stage for the wackier wackos“, an article in The Age about Comedy @ Trades, and the Groggy Squirrel, Melbourne’s online comedy magazine, has posted the first review.

Watch out for more Man in the Lab Coat, with an interview in Inpress, and some more reviews later this week.

Lab Coat and Friends

The Fringe is over, but the science comedy continues this Thursday when the Man appears at the Australian Science Communicators’ Science Comedy Night. It’s an evening of fine food and scientastic comedy featuring Ben “Lab Coat Man” McKenzie, Dan “the Science Fan” Walmsley and Lawrence “Puzzle Boy” Leung. The doors open at 7:00pm for a 7:15pm start; you should arrive on time and hungry for both comedy and food. This Thursday, October 19 at the Redback Brewery, 75 Flemington Road, North Melbourne. ASC members $10, non-members $14, and students $8. Tickets at the door.

More Impro

This Sunday the 10th of September, The Man joins an all-star lineup for Impro Sundae with The Crew at the Comic’s Lounge, Errol Street North Melbourne. This is his last appearance with them until after October 29, so if you ever wondered if an understanding of chaos and complexity theory leads to greater improvisational skills, now’s your chance to find out! Entry $10.

The Man enters the Impro Rumble

This Sunday the 25th of June, Melbourne impro group The Crew celebrate their fifth birthday in style with a WWF-style Impro Rumble! (Though unlike the WWF, this show is unscripted.) See some of Melbourne’s best comic actors and comedians, including yours truly, challenge each other in impro combat – and in the end, there can be only one. At the Comic’s Lounge, Errol Street North Melbourne. Entry $10.
