Geek and science comedy a specialty
Welcome to the internest of Ben McKenzie, Melbourne-based actor, comedian, game designer, writer and ginger. (He’s not the one on Gotham.)
‘Geek comedy’s patron saint’ (T-Squat magazine), Ben writes and performs live comedy, including sketches, comedy lectures, the hit live Doctor Who podcast Splendid Chaps, the Dungeons & Dragons-inspired improvised comedy Dungeon Crawl, and his most recent solo show, Ben McKenzie is Uncool. His major current project is the sci-fi comedy audio series Night Terrace, now in its second season, for which he is co-writer, co-producer, and co-star alongside Neighbours’ Jackie Woodburne. (Yes, we sent Susan from Neighbours into space.)
It should come as no surprise that Ben loves games; he is co-founder of live games company Pop Up Playground, where he has designed games including Spy Catcher, The Curse, The Whispering Society, The Focal Point and The Ride, and worked with the Freeplay Independent Games Festival since 2012.
His favourite dinosaur is Stegosaurus.
Here on the site you can find details of Ben’s appearances, along with blog posts featuring his musings on life, the Universe and everything. (Yeah, he loves Douglas Adams as well.)
